This course is specifically designed for individuals in management positions who are interested in becoming more effective leaders. Intended to develop behaviors and skills that drive performance and create long-term value for your organizations, this course could be the perfect challenge and investment into your career.

Outward Bound Professional has been designing and delivering customized leadership and team development programs for Fortune 500 companies for 30 years.

This four-day course will dually focus on personal and professional growth and will utilize classic Outward Bound activities, such as expedition, rock climbing and rappelling, ropes course and team initiatives to increase your knowledge of the best leadership practices for your management style, to hone your strengths and to discuss areas for development, all in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains!

You will practice knowledge of useful models for effective team leadership, feedback and developing others while also increasing your leadership capacity, learning to motivate others, all the while becoming re-energized and inspired for when you return to the office.

Rock climbing or rappelling exposes you to some of the most exciting and renowned rock sites east of the Mississippi. The Blue Ridge Mountains, a range in the ancient and majestic Southern Appalachian Mountains, have lush, dense forests featuring an incredible biodiversity of flora and fauna. Amidst these highest mountains, rocky crags and granite outcroppings provide exceptional climbing opportunities.

Instructors teach you technical outdoor skills needed for a successful expedition while integrating North Carolina Outward Bound’s core philosophies: environmental stewardship, fitness, compassion, leadership, craftsmanship and self-reliance. The course also includes a solo for personal reflection and a final team initiative for group members to make commitments on how to carry learning from the course back to the workplace.

Some specific outcomes include: Increasing comfort with risk-taking, Understanding of and ability to apply participative leadership style and how to empower direct reports, Increasing ability to lead in the face of ambiguity and adversity, Personal development planning, Communicating clearly and effectively to increase team performance and Goal setting
